So it happened. You don’t witness history every day but here I was, sitting on the other side of the world, clutching my phone, waiting for the announcement of the fate of the most powerful country in the world. In honour to the path in front of us that is brightened by hell fire, I have created my first anime tag, with 16 animes honouring the turn of history at 2016. I’ve also done an book tag here.
Star-spangled banner – Had it been another country no one would have cared.
Pick an anime with red, white, and blue on the poster.
The rest of the world – When the USA sneezes, the world catches a cold.
Pick an anime where a character was forced into a position that they didn’t sign up for as a result of others’s actions.
Chihiro was forced into child labour in spirit world because her parents didn’t know what common sense is. Thanks mum and dad.
Plot twist – Nobody saw that coming, and neither did the polls.
Pick an anime with a plot twist that totally threw you off guard.
Escape – Canada, Australia, New Zealand… These are a few popular choices.
Pick an anime where a character was forced to abandon where they call home.
Trapped – When you realised these countries have immigration laws and unreliable web services. LOL.
Pick an anime where a character wants to escape but couldn’t.
It’s probably easier to be trapped in a dangerous virtual reality where you can die at anytime.
cic.gc.ca – I have never seen something crashes as fast.
Pick an anime here things escalated too quickly
The story was great, but the pacing was way too fast. This should have had 48 episodes instead of 12.
Great Wall of USA – That fucking wall.
Pick an anime where the characters are isolated, physically or figuratively.
Natsume as a boy who can see yokai, has to keep his life as secret, and doing so he had to somehow isolate himself from other humans. Even though he is now living with his understanding foster parents and attend a school with friends who don’t judge him, he still has to keep his secret to himself to protect the ones around him.
Boiling frog – Rome didn’t fall in a day…
Choose an anime where things are getting worse and worse gradually. The characters should have saw that coming but were blind to it until it’s too late.
Instead of getting worse, the situation in Durarara just got more and more chaotic. Everyone in the city are desperately trying to achieve their personal desires, which at the end brought them all togehter in a chaotic ending.
11th of November – But it started falling someday.
Choose an anime where an event was the catalyst of a disaster.
風の谷のナウシカ – Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa/ Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
All it took was a crash-landing.
Electorate college – Democracy but not really.
Pick an anime with a system that makes no sense.
I was drawn in by the amazing animation and epic action scenes. However after watching the whole series I’m still confused bout the whole concept of this universe.
Popularity votes – What’s the point?
Pick an anime with a pointless concept.
It was an anime of pretty boys talking to you before you go to bed. It was supposed to be engaging to the viewer and let us enjoy a first-person point of view. Do you remember the last time you watched something from a first-person point of view? Well mine was all these cringy cartoons with the characters facing the screen and asking you questions, then pausing awkwardly as if to expect you to respond back to 2D characters on the screen. Well this anime feels exactly like that, except for girls who for some reasons wants a 2D boyfriend to tuck them in bed.
46% – The embarrassing lol-I-couldn’t-be bothered rate.
Pick an anime with character disappearance.
It’s in the title..
Throwback Tuesday – When vintage is a trend in politics and history is repeating itself. Make America just like before again.
Choose an anime where things are progressing only to take an 180-degree turn again and go backwards.
This famous children anime series, like all children anime series, don’t have a continuous plot. This means every episode is a story itself. The plot is pretty repetitive. Nobita gets in trouble, he askes Doraemon for help, Doraemon relunctantly gives him a gadget, Nobita uses it and everything is going great, something happens and he messes up. Repeat.
Common sense – Something that isn’t so common anymore.
Pick an anime that defies common sense.
Haruhi doesn’t like common sense and the world she is living in won’t have any of that nonsense.
Jokes? Jokes on you – When what started as a joke became reality, it’s so pathetically sad it’s funny in a different way.
Pick an anime with dark humour.
黒執事 Book of Circus – Kuroshitsuji Book of Circus / Black Butler Book of Circus
Kuroshitsuji is a wonderful series that would first makes you laugh, get attached to the characters, and then show their dark side to question the meanings of ethics, morals, and values. The reason I chose the third series is because it is the best one. If you are interested in this anime, watch the first half of series 1, skipp series 2, read the manga, and then come back for series 3.
Dystopian – Who needs dystopian fictions when you can just watch the news.
Pick your favourite dystopian anime.
Psycho-Pass is a futuristic sci-fic anime that questions a supposedly perfect system.
Anyways, that was just a way for me to cope with the fact that one of the most powerful people in the world would be… you know… in control of one of the most powerful country for the future 4 years. Until Kanye West takes over, assuming that the world still exists. If that happens I will create The 2020 US Presidential Election Anime Tag. Hasa Diga Eebowai.
